ABOUT
Photojaanic.com, with its impressive base of over 39K active monthly users, is an online platform specializing in personalized photo products and printing services. Photojaanic sought to create a user-friendly and all-encompassing solution that would make photo customization and printing an effortless and enjoyable experience for its customers.
As a freelancer, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Photojaanic team, bringing their vision to life. My involvement with Photojaanic extends beyond this as I have been working with them for a year, contributing to various digital initiatives. It has been an incredibly rewarding journey, and I am honored to be part of their innovative endeavors.
THE OUTCOME
Successful development of mobile and web apps. My role: UI/UX design, wireframing, prototyping, and interaction design. Positive feedback from CEO on design. Result aligned with objectives, highlighting the value of UI/UX in creating an engaging journey.
THE PROCESS
Before diving into the development of Photojaanic new customization photo app and web platform, a thoughtful and iterative process was followed to ensure a successful outcome. This process encompassed the stages of problem discovery, ideation, visual design, development of the final product, and a concluding reflection on the journey.
Problem Discovery
"Getting personal with photo products was a bit of a challenge on Photojaanic's existing platform. Users felt limited in their creative expression due to the lack of robust customization features. So, the brilliant minds at Photojaanic decided to create a custom app that would turn the tables. With this app, users could finally dive deep into a world of comprehensive customization options. From tweaking colors to adding funky text, they could let their creativity soar and craft photo products that were truly one-of-a-kind. It was all about giving users the power to personalize their memories in a way that perfectly reflected their unique style and personality."
After engaging in insightful conversations, it became crystal clear why Photojaanic was determined to develop this app.
Research and Insight
The primary objective was to create a seamless and user-friendly platform that would empower customers to effortlessly personalize their photo products.
But before diving headfirst into the design phase, I took a diverse group of 10 individuals from my college community. I wanted to know what they thought about the idea of an app that combines photo editing and printing.
During our casual interview, I had a blast chatting with participants about what gets them excited when it comes to photo editing apps. I dug deep and asked about their main motivations, the features that really make a difference, and what they thought about the idea of printing their creations.
The enthusiasm was contagious as they shared their genuine excitement about the idea of seamlessly integrating printing capabilities within the app. From stunning photo prints and captivating canvas art to cherished photo books and personalized gifts, they saw the immense value in turning their digital creations into tangible keepsakes. It was all about showcasing their favorite memories, spreading joy to loved ones, and creating something truly special.
Problem Statement
Photojaanic recognized the urgent need to develop this app as a platform where users could break free from limitations and fully express themselves through personalized photo products.
IDEATION
During the ideation process for designing the custom photo app, competitor research played a crucial role in shaping the direction of the project. By analyzing similar online platforms and photo editing/printing services, valuable insights were gained regarding industry trends, user expectations, and innovative features. This research helped identify areas where Photojaanic could differentiate itself and offer a unique value proposition to its customers. By studying competitors' strengths and weaknesses, we were able to refine our own ideas and make informed design decisions that would set Photojaanic apart in the market.
Also, I drew inspiration from real user journeys and personas. By analyzing various user personas and their corresponding journeys, the team gained valuable insights into the needs, preferences, and pain points of their target users. These insights served as a foundation for generating innovative ideas and envisioning a user-centric app experience.
Competitive Research
During the ideation phase, we did some digging and explored other similar sites and photo editing platforms out there. It was like going on a virtual adventure, checking out what the competition had to offer. By diving into the features, user experiences, and designs of these platforms, we got a good sense of what's already out there in the market. This helped us identify areas where we could stand out and bring something fresh to the table. Armed with this knowledge, we set out to create a custom photo app that would wow our users and make Photojaanic the ultimate destination for personalized photo editing and printing.
User Persona
Meet Sarah, a 35-year-old working mother, seeks an easy-to-use photo editor app with a wide range of editing tools. She values the option to print physical products like prints and canvas, willing to pay a small fee. Sarah enjoys sharing photos on social media and cherishes physical copies of her memories for scrapbooking. Sarah's love for physical copies of her memories influences the design of the app, ensuring seamless editing and personalized printing experiences.

The user journey was crafted with the Photojaanic team to align with their vision. Sarah's seamless experience of capturing, editing, and ordering prints reflects the team's commitment to delivering a delightful and personalized photo journey.
Wireflow
The wireflow of the Photojaanic custom photo app was carefully crafted to ensure a seamless and intuitive experience for our users. Starting from the moment they open the app, I designed a user flow that guides them effortlessly through each step, from selecting and importing their photos to applying edits and enhancements. The flow enables users to explore a wide range of customization options, such as filters, effects, and text overlays, empowering them to personalize their photos to their heart's content.
With a focus on simplicity and ease of use, we streamlined the flow to eliminate any unnecessary steps or confusion, allowing users to navigate the app with confidence. Whether they're editing photos, choosing printing options, or sharing their creations, the user flow ensures a smooth journey from start to finish, creating a delightful and satisfying experience.
VISUAL DESIGN
During the Visual Design phase, the wireframes were transformed into captivating high-fidelity designs that brought the app to life. Building upon the established user flows and information architecture, I focused on creating visually appealing interfaces that aligned with the Photojaanic brand. Careful attention was given to typography, color schemes, and visual elements to ensure a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing user experience.
With the completion of the high-fidelity designs, both the mobile and desktop versions of the app were ready for the finalization stage. The designs were thoroughly reviewed and refined to ensure consistency across different screen sizes and platforms.
Attention was given to optimizing the user interface for a seamless and intuitive user experience on both mobile devices and desktop computers. The final designs incorporated user feedback, best practices in UI/UX design, and the Photojaanic team's vision.
By meticulously refining the visual elements, layout, and interactions, the designs were polished very well, ready to be implemented. The collaboration between UI/UX design and development teams ensured that the final designs were not only visually appealing but also functional, intuitive, and aligned with the user needs and business goals of Photojaanic.

Choosing product
In the feature section, there's feature called "Choosing Product." It allows users to easily select the product they want to customize. the app offer a variety of products like photo prints, canvas art, mugs, and more. Users can browse through the options, view product details, and make their choice. they've made sure to provide clear images and information to help users make an informed decision. This feature sets the foundation for a personalized experience, where users can let their creativity shine on their chosen product. It's all about giving users the freedom to create something special and unique to them.
Adding Photo
Another notable feature of the app is the ability to add photos from the user's existing album. With this functionality, users can seamlessly import their favorite photos directly from their device's gallery. Whether it's a cherished family portrait or a breathtaking landscape shot, users have the freedom to choose the perfect image for their customized product. The app ensures a smooth and intuitive process, allowing users to effortlessly access and select their desired photos. It's all about making the customization experience as seamless and user-friendly as possible.

This feature allowing users to personalize their photos with customized messages or captions. The intuitive text editor lets users input their desired text, choose from a wide range of fonts, and adjust the size, color, and position of the text on the image. Whether it's a heartfelt message, a funny quote, or an important date, users have full control over how they express themselves through text overlays. Elevate your photos and make them more engaging with this easy-to-use feature.

This feature allow users to explore a diverse range of captivating presets that allow users to effortlessly enhance their images. From vibrant and colorful aesthetics to vintage and nostalgic vibes, the app offers a collection of presets suited to various preferences. Users can browse through the available options and apply their desired filter with a single tap.

Whether it's a vibrant abstract pattern, a serene nature scene, or a stylish geometric design, the canvas background adds depth and visual interest to users photos.

After the completion of the project, I received positive feedback from the CEO of Photojaanic. They expressed their satisfaction with the custom app, It was rewarding to hear such positive remarks, as it affirmed the successful outcome of the project.
